Project rethink: Xq and redesign (baxter academy final year)

Apparel Marketing & Multimedia (Baxter Academy Year 2)
Project Abstract: We believe that good things come from humans helping other humans. Because of this, we are proposing to launch a nonprofit clothing company to provide exposure to known charities across the globe. We will design, sell, and share a selection of T-shirts that will benefit causes related to the theme of the shirt. We want to appeal to young and old, designing shirts that are unique but at the same time stand out and carry a message that brings to light lesser known societal issues. By reaching out to different printers and companies, we plan to develop relations with local and/or national companies to help with the creation of our products.
This project provided me with a chance to further in developing project managment skills. By working through developing, marketing and selling inventory, I was able to use business software and methods of tracking, advertising and distributing products. By working together with two other students from my first Flex Friday project (below), we were able to assign roles and tasks, hold each other accountable and solve problems effectively.
Overall we sold five of 8 designs we made, and raised over $2000 for charities around the country.
Conceptual Business Plan (Baxter Academy Year 1)
For my first year at Baxter Academy, I decided to develop my project around developing a conceptual business, based on a wireless USB product that I designed for a Verizon App Challenge Competition. Together with other students, I set about planning and developing it. Through this experience, I learned how to manage a project successfully and set goals in working environments. I learned how to build a business from scratch, and crafted my own business plan. Immersing myself in this world was a fun experience and gave me a lot of hands on understand, as well as opened my eyes to resources around. My friend Drew, from the Maine School of Science and Math actually started to use his coding experience to develop a prototype of the product and while we initially hoped to actually develop it, set backs occurred with group members and we had to settle with conceptual designs. This project put me in contact with various groups of people, from the Casco Bay Tech Hub and members of Hall Internet Marketing, to Build-a-biz-ME, Freeport Metrics and Maine Technology Institute. These people helped me understand the start up world and gave a lot of help along the course of this project, and forming the Baxter Academy Entrepreneurship club in the future.
